Ingredients

  • 3 and 2/3 cups (440g) cake flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 and 1/2 cups (345g) unsalted butter
  • 2 cups (400g) granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs + 2 additional egg whites
  • 1 Tablespoon pure vanilla extract (yes, Tbsp!)
  • 1 and 1/2 cups (360ml) buttermilk

Vanilla Buttercream

  • 1 and 1/2 cups (345g) unsalted butter
  • 6 cups (720g) confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/3 cup (80ml) whole milk or heavy cream
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

Baking Procedure

  1. First thing first, preheats the oven to 177-degree celsius.
  2. Take three 9-inch cake pans. Grease them and line them properly with parchment paper.
  3. In a bowl, add baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cake flour and whisk them together properly.
  4. Beat the butter and sugar together in a bowl with your hands or in an electric mixer on high speed until you get a smooth and creamy mixture.
  5. Now add eggs, egg whites, and vanilla extract to the mixture and beat again for two to three minutes until all things get combined well enough.
  6. Now turn the mixture on a low speed and all the dry ingredients until combined well.
  7. Let the mixture run on a low speed and pour in the buttermilk.
  8. Turn off the mixture and beat with your hands to make sure that there are no lumps.
  9. Now add the prepared batter equally into the three cake pans. Insert one toothpick in each cake batter before putting the cake pans in the oven.
  10. Put the pans in the oven and bake for around 25 to 30 minutes. If the toothpicks inserted comes out clean, it means you have done a great job.
  11. Let the cake cool completely by taking it out from the cake pans.

Make The Frosting

  1. Beat the butter in a bowl using a hand mixer until it gets creamy.
  2. Now add confectioners sugar, vanilla extract, salt, and milk. Mix again until all things get combined well enough.
  3. If your frosting is too thin, then add some more confectioners sugar and if it’s too thick, add a pinch of salt.

Assembling The Cake

  1. Take a knife and slice a thin layer from all the three cake batter to produce a flat and smooth surface.
  2. Put the first batter on the plate and add frosting on it. Now palace the second batter on it and repeat the frosting layer. Place the final batter on top and cover the cakes completely with the frosting.
  3. You can use other items like gems, chocolate crunches, Ferrero Rocher, and colourful sprinkles to decorate your cake.
  4. Refrigerate the cake for three to four hours and treat yourself with the delicacy.
